We are sad to announce that the Bank of England has decided that the category for the £50 will be scientists.

There was an argument that we could have tried to extend the category of science to intelligence as these brave women were radio operators, but it was always a stretch. Moreover, organisations representing two of the war heroines have requested that our campaign for the WWII war heroines to be on the £50 note ends here as we do not wish to have to make long submissions to the Bank of England only to see us rejected.  Let us properly honour the memory of the Noor Inayat Khan, Violette Szabo and Odette Hallowes in other ways.

There may always be a future note possibility but there is no timescale on that from the Bank of England.

I have renamed the facebook page and we will still update it with events to raise awareness of the women of the SOE. We are speaking to the likes of The Royal British Legion Women's Section on future activity. In the meantime, let us now focus on Remembrance Sunday - I will be at the Violette Szabo Museum. Let us never forget.
