Dear Senate and Congress,

Many people of our Nation are concerned for the well-being and safety of all United States citizens. Mass shootings have been increasing over the years in public areas. Especially Schools. Many people have lost their lives including Police Officers who died like many adults, and even children, trying to protect others.  Many innocent people have died for just walking down the street, taking a subway, going to school, shopping, or just merely being at the wrong place at the wrong time. 

Although some schools and stores may have better security, there is much more our government can do to protect us.

I am starting this Petition to have policies put in place to hire retired Veterans to be placed as Security in public locations and events, especially in all schools and areas of Education. 

Living close to Buffalo, NY made many of us here realize that anything can happen. 10 people lost their lives at a local grocery store to a young male in body armor with a gun. To make matters worse, he streamed it over the internet. Not to mention the Subway Shooting in Brooklyn more recently. The list just keeps going on in NY State alone. 

With the mass killing of at least 19 students, and two teachers a week later in Texas. Along with Sandy Hook, and many other shootings going back before Columbine, something must be done to protect every citizen in the United States. 

Many retired Veterans have been out of work, struggling throughout our Country to find jobs, and overcome homelessness. They are better trained in gun control and have been protecting us U.S Citizens for many years. This will help us citizens feel better protected, along with giving Veterans in need jobs. 

There are plenty of ways this can be funded to not hurt pockets of U.S citizens, along with defunding other programs. From fundraising in communities to benefits and donations, Social Welfare events, and much more. 

There is no excuse that children and people should be afraid to leave their homes due to fear of being hurt or murdered. We also need better resources for Mental Health across America.

The United States has been in a pandemic for years now. It's worse than the Great Depression. Our government has failed us, citizens, enough. Something needs to change. 

There is too much happening on our home soil. If we can spend billions of dollars on other Countries to aid them, we should be able to come up with many different policies that can better protect us citizens that don’t involve stripping away our constitutional rights.
