Petition updatePut EBR Students & Faculty First: Review Narcisse's Contract!Narcisse Contract Could Extend to 2028

Dear EBRPSS Supporters,

"The Advocate" just posted an article this afternoon. My head is spinning at the thought of why Gaudet insists on doing this. I am posting excerpts n case you cannot open the full article. I urge you to attend the meeting tomorrow night if at all possible.

"The parish School Board, two-thirds of whom just took office two weeks ago, will consider whether to start contract renewal negotiations with Narcisse when it meets Thursday, even though his contract is not set to expire until June 30, 2024, more than 17 months from now.

Approval requires five votes. The three incumbents who were re-elected in the fall — Gaudet, Board President Dadrius Lanus and Mark Bellue — have been solid supporters of Narcisse. But their votes won’t be enough. Gaudet will need the support from at least two of the six newcomers.

By state law, the board can renew Narcisse’s contract by at most four years, which would push back his contract expiration until June 2028.

Katie Kennison, who defeated incumbent Connie Bernard in December to represent District 8, said on Wednesday that she is a “resounding No,” but said she was too busy for work to go into further detail.

Patrick Martin V, a newcomer elected in District 9, said he’s undecided.

“I don’t know yet. I need to hear the public comment and board discussion tomorrow evening before making up my mind,” Martin said."

The EBRPSS School Board meeting starts at 5PM at the office at 1050 S. Foster Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70806.

New School Board members need to hear from many. many stakeholders.

Sincerely,

Mary
