If you were able to watch or to attend last night's EBRPSS School Board meeting, several exciting things happened. When it was time to discuss expenditures for Pathways to Bright Futures, Mark Bellue voted to put it on the agenda for discussion. No on else would second it! “After a motion is proposed, if the motion requires a second and none is immediately offered, the chair of the body will usually ask, "Is there a second?" If no second is obtained within a few moments of proposing the motion, then the motion is not considered by the assembly, and is treated as though it was never …”according to Robert's Rules of Order. Tatman asked for a second then moved on to other business.
The dual enrollment part of Pathways to Bright Futures can continue at Glen Oaks but it is not funded for the district. This means that it cannot spread throughout the district. I will remain vigilant and so should you in making sure that Narcisse does not bring back the funding in another form.
There are multiple issues to concern ourselves with about our school district. For now, we will just be glad that limited resources will not go towards this program.
Let's continue to watch these budget meetings closely. The article mentions other agenda items taht were not funded or wermoved to the July meetings.
