The community of Edenvale, has witnessed a marked increase in illegal housing practices such as unauthorized room renting and informal communes. These actions not only violate local housing ordinances but also jeopardize neighborhood safety, property values, and community harmony. 

According to local community reports, there are hundreds of properties in the Edenvale Avenues alone that are illegal room rentals and/or communes. With fear that this will soon be spreading to surrounding communities too.

Moreover, this alarming trend could lead to significant strain on public utilities and infrastructure, as these illegal dwellings are typically not accounted for when planning for local resources. The surge in crime levels have not gone unnoticed either.

We the Edenvale residents are fed up with the ward councilors excuses and the fact that they want to inspect these properties to advise them on how they can become legal or face fines is not acceptable. Enough is enough. We as residents need to clean up and take back our community. 

Through this petition, we demand that the Edenvale community council,  local law enforcement authorities, town planning as well as immigration, step up efforts to monitor housing practices, enforce housing regulations and to take strong actions to discourage and eliminate such illegal practices.
