Thousands of people travel daily between Bengaluru and the coastal cities of Udupi and Mangaluru, including students, IT professionals, healthcare workers, pilgrims, and tourists. Despite the huge demand, there are less trains on this busy and crucial route.

These trains are almost always full, making it extremely difficult to get a confirmed ticket - especially for last-minute or emergency travel.

At the same time, bus fares have drastically increased, with private bus operators charging high prices, especially on weekends and holidays. For many people, especially students and low-income travelers, trains are the only affordable mode of transportation. Unfortunately, the current train services are grossly inadequate.

We respectfully urge the Ministry of Railways and the South Western Railway (SWR) to:

• Introduce more night trains between Bengaluru and Udupi/Mangaluru
• Add special trains during weekends, holidays, and peak seasons
• Ensure fair availability across all travel classes
• Consider adding Express or Superfast trains to reduce travel time

This is not just a matter of convenience - it is a matter of access, affordability, and fairness for thousands of daily commuters and long-distance travelers. Improved rail connectivity will also help reduce traffic congestion and the public's dependence on overpriced private buses.
