Push Apple to Open iOS to All Emulators: From GameCube to PC!

Das Problem

As an ardent retro gaming enthusiast, I am passionate about playing my legally purchased copies of old GameCube classics directly on my iOS smartphone. Unfortunately, Apple’s stringent regulations have created a technical hurdle that has so far prevented the Dolphin Emulator - known for unlocking the pleasure of GameCube and Wii games - from being published on the App Store.

By not allowing apps like the Dolphin Emulator, Apple is limiting the capacity of iOS devices to serve as a platform for reviving and preserving the gaming history embodied in GameCube classics. It is a restriction not only on our gaming freedom but also on the cultural legacy of gaming we wish to carry forward.

Moreover, Apple’s current policies also hinder other types of emulators, such as PC emulators like UTM and iDOS3, from being available on the App Store. This broad restriction affects a wide array of emulation apps that enthusiasts rely on to experience and preserve software from various platforms.

This petition aims to nudge Apple towards flexible policies regarding the approval of applications like the Dolphin Emulator on their platform. It's not just an appeal for enabling the Dolphin emulator specifically, but a larger movement towards preserving the essence of retrogaming and ensuring all gamers, regardless of their device preferences, can enjoy classic games at their convenience.

Let's counter this hurdle together. By signaling strong customer demand, we could inspire Apple to revisit their policies and support the inclusion of emulators such as the Dolphin Emulator, UTM, and iDOS3 on the App Store, thereby supporting retrogaming culture and the right to enjoy our owned games on the devices we prefer. Please add your signature to this important cause.
