The Issue

Every day, women and girls in Zimbabwe face violence, abuse, and harassment. This is not just a statistic, it is the lived reality of thousands of our mothers, sisters, daughters, and friends. Women are dying, families are breaking, and communities are suffering because gender-based violence continues unchecked.

We cannot afford to ignore it. Every act of violence, every story silenced, every life lost is a tragedy that could have been prevented. Gender-based violence is not only a crime—it is a barrier to the progress of our society, a threat to human dignity, and a stain on our nation.

We have seen movements in South Africa successfully raising awareness and creating pressure for change. Zimbabwe deserves the same. We can, and we must, take action here at home.

We are calling on Zimbabwean leaders to:

1. Strengthen laws and protections for women and girls, ensuring that perpetrators are held accountable.

2. Guarantee that survivors of abuse have access to justice, healthcare, and safe spaces.

3. Invest in education and awareness programs that challenge harmful gender norms and empower communities to protect women and girls.

We are also calling on every citizen to take part:

-Change your social media profile picture to purple to visibly show solidarity.

-Sign this petition to demand action, not as a symbolic gesture, but as a statement of our commitment to the safety and dignity of women.

-Share this movement widely so that everyone sees that Zimbabwe stands united against violence.

This is not a trend. This is not a moment for applause or likes. This is a call to action, a plea for lives, a demand for justice. Every signature is a voice, every profile picture is a stand, and together we can make sure that the world and Zimbabwe, sees that women matter.

We cannot wait. We cannot stay silent. Stand with us. Stand for her.
