Indianapolis is home to over 800,000 residents. In the 2022 midterms, Indy voters chose Democratic candidates by over 60%. Despite this, Indiana's capital city has zero progressive radio options. Multiple stations on both the AM and FM bands broadcast far-right wing programming all over the area. This is a grave disservice to the many hundreds of thousands of democracy-loving Hoosiers who, every day, are deprived of good-faith dialogue in favor of increasingly authoritarian propaganda. 

In June 2022, Urban One, Incorporated acquired news/talk WIBC from Emmis Communications. As the largest African-American-owned media company in America, "voice of Black culture", and long-time Democratic donors, we the people of Central Indiana are asking you to live your values and give us a real progressive talk-radio option. 

WIBC currently serves as home to right-wing firebrands Tony Katz, Rob Kendall, and "Hammer and Nigel". We hate to ask for anybody's job, but the right-wing media sphere is plenty big to provide these folks a landing spot. The progressive talk radio sphere is much smaller and has no foothold in our market. We believe there is a unique opportunity to serve an underrepresented population AND grow your business in an area with ZERO competition.
