Over 600 signatures in 5 days - what have I learned?

Thank you for your support for my petition - I really appreciate your willingness to put your name to something I feel strongly about, as do many others, and perhaps you as well.

I wanted to share what I've learned so far.
a) It looks like Facebook is a great place to find supporters: it comes joint first with Change.org's own paid-for promotion, both of them accounting for just under a third of all signups, each. This has surprised me: at present, there have been around 200 signatures from Change, and the cost works out on average at £1 /signature. That might sound like a lot, but it's generally comparable with signups obtained from, say, Google ads. And of course, if we had the money that the marketing teams in East West Rail Co have, it would be simple to secure 10k supporters very quickly. But we're not them, and I'm grateful to everyone who has dipped their hand in their pocket to help. The other big source of signups is WhatsApp - more on that at the end.
b) I made some posts on Facebook, and unfortunately, for some of them, used the wrong URL: change.com instead of change.org. This is embarrassing - change.com sells lingerie! Fortunately I've been able to correct that one quickly.
c) It's fascinating how starting the conversation on social media often leads to polarisation, with quite a few abusive and accusatory comments. Disappointing but, I suppose, inevitable. That said, I've also had a lot of lovely comments.

(For the avoidance of doubt - asking for the business case could actually be construed as being supportive of the project. After all, people like me would have to shut up if the business case  was compelling. The problem is that keeping it secret engenders mistrust and suspicion, especially given the backdrop of other high profile infrastructure projects going wrong.)

Anyway - once again, thank you for your help and support.
If you'd like to continue helping get the word out, and you're a WhatsApp user, please consider messaging your friends, family and any groups you may be a member of.
WhatsApp appears to convert really well. If you need some ideas of what to say, check out eastwestrail.site/resources.html.

Have a great weekend and let's keep this campaign rolling!
