Dear supporter,
Thank you so much for signing our petition asking the Commissioner for Human Rights of the United Nations to investigate the treatment of people forced to register as sex offenders. Every day, human beings are subjected to ostracism, banishment, public shaming, separation from family, joblessness and homelessness, but the United States refuses to acknowledge that the registry is punishment. It is not only punishment, it is a cruel and inhumane way to treat people who have already served their sentence decades ago.
Our petition has generated a very good response, but we are still below the amount of signatures we would like to have before presenting it to the UN. For that reason, we could really, really, use your help in getting the word out to more people.
If you have social media, please share a link to the petition https://chng.it/cxqGrLzqkD and ask all your friend and followers to please sign.
Additionally, FAC issued a press release announcing the petition. It is available on Associated Press (AP) via this link: https://apnews.com/press-release/prcom/florida-united-states-c8f0776664387f601366264182146f1d .
Please reach out to your local news outlets and urge them to feature this story. And finally, please remind your spouse, child, parent, friend, family, co-worker or any other person you shared this petition with, to sign if they have not already done so.
Through this petition we hope to restore the dignity and futures of more than a million people in the US!
Sincerely,
Anita
