The meeting last night was a half-filled room of of mostly silent spectators and a handful of people who spoke. Most people that did speak, which I took video of all, didn’t want sidewalks or walkways in the fence. It was less than 10 people who spoke including me which is less than the amount of people who use the walkways daily currently as documented by Orange County.
School Board Member Alicia Farrant and Secretary Nancy Conover distributed a defamatory flier while speaking as members of OCPS. Nancy herself and a small group of neighbors created it. This both shocked and appalled me.
Farrant falsely stated that there was a school bus stop for Conway Elementary and advocated for the walkways to be closed up, regardless of how it affects the children. There is a bus stop for Boone. There may be one for Conway Middle, but I have to confirm. I know the two students who were injured due to the trench had been riding their scooters to Conway Middle.
This is not something I would expect from two people serving as representatives for the school board, wearing OCPS pins, and using their title alongside their commentary. Fliers that they distributed are a slander campaign, which I will be addressing, and the notes within them are fear mongering.
We have three weeks to get through to the voting parties for this decision, so please stand by to support.
