My husband and I are headed to Ottawa this Wednesday October 23rd, 2024 to meet with Michael Collins the Vice President of the Public Health Agency of Canada. We’re meeting to learn and discuss 988. It was started in Canada November 30th, 2023 and is the Suicide Crisis Helpline in Canada.

It would be encouraging to see ;  988 information put on all antidepressant/ psychotropic drugs paperwork that goes home with people from Canadian Pharmacies.

Posters for 988 hung in liquor stores across Canada as one in four deaths by suicide in Canada involve alcohol.

988 information given to every patient upon dismissal from a mental health unit in Canada.

Countries with the lowest suicide rates typically have low antidepressant usage and alcohol is not easily accessible. School programs to educate the youth are also valuable and save lives. It’s just common sense to make sure poster’s/ paperwork are  in places where statically the most vulnerable are likely to be. Bars, liquor stores, pharmacy and hospital mental health units. Schools, with vulnerable youth need to be educated on alcohol and drugs (pharmaceutical and street drugs).

We’re losing a lot of youth/people to drug induced psychosis. We need to educate and get a game plan. Thank you for supporting MADI’s LAW. We now have it in English, Canadian French, Filipino, Cantonese and Mandarin!
