Progress has been made towards a meeting with Canada’s health minister Mark Holland. Instead of another email I sent some treats from a local bakery in Ajax over to Mark Hollands office on Friday morning with a note that said “To Mark Holland and staff…awaiting the opportunity to meet with you. This is Louise Carter/Madi’s Law.” Valerie Bradford congratulated me on my “creativity “.
Minister Hollands office informed me by phone that he is on the road right now and is unavailable to meet for quite some time. It’s unfortunate that he missed the delicious baking I sent over. I’m sure his staff handled it for him! I want him to know that I’m more than happy to get him delicious baking in person should the opportunity arise! They forwarded my/Madi’s Law emails to Ottawa and said someone that could meet sooner on his behalf would be contacting me soon.
MP Valerie Bradford emailed…”I’m not surprised Minister Holland is on the road, as he is finalizing details on the dental program for seniors we are unrolling, as well as getting provinces to sign on for the increased funding for health care. However, very often it is just as effective to meet with staff who will ensure he is briefed of your meeting.Thank you for continuing the fight to turn your tragic loss into positive change.”
I am pleased with the communication with Minister Hollands office and MP Valerie Bradford. Thanks to everyone that sent emails to Minister Holland. When I get the meeting I will go in with all my might to bring positive change/Madi’s Law to Canadians!
