No where in the paperwork Madisyn took home from Shoppers was it written that pregabalin/lyrica can cause suicidal ideation. I asked the pharmacist why it wasn’t listed” he said “I have been informed that the patient information sheet is developed by a drug information vendor, and contains general information about the most common side effects likely to be noticed by patients, not an exhaustive list of side effects.    

Following our conversation, I asked Shoppers Drug Mart to contact the vendor that supplies these information sheets to pharmacies. The vendor has advised that they will not be updating the information to reflect this side effect. “

The vendor that makes the paperwork that goes home for prescription drugs at Shoppers ( and many other companies) is Vigilance Sante. I sent them an email. This question was given to me by a TikTok follower and it’s a great question. My email stated, 

“You made the paperwork my daughter took home from Shoppers. No where was may cause suicidal ideation mentioned in this paperwork. We want to know  why Vigilance Sante doesn’t just provide the monograph developed by Health Canada that is freely accessible?

We look forward to hearing from you. “

The monograph developed by health Canada for pregabalin contains the suicidal ideation warning. My sense is actually mentioning and properly informing people of side effects doesn’t make money. Money over life. I will forward this update to Vigilance Sante and  inform everyone of their response.
