I want to explain why the psychotropic drugs safety waiver needs to be made mandatory. Every pharmaceutical drug has a monograph. In the monograph for Lyrica it states 

 "patients, their caregivers and families should be counselled to monitor for signs of suicidal ideation and behaviours and should be encouraged to report any distressing thoughts or feelings at any time to their health care professional."

All monographs for psychotropic drugs will have a similar clause like the example given for Lyrica. When I read that I thought the Doctors would be held accountable because they did not call us or have a family meeting to notify us of Madisyn's suicidal ideation. I was wrong. The "should and encouraged " words are merely a recommendation and not mandatory. Unless it's mandatory, even though it's recommended, they don't have to do it. There will be NO accountability. The standard of care is low.
