PSPO AND ACOUSTIC CAMERA COUNTER PETITION

PSPO AND ACOUSTIC CAMERA COUNTER PETITION
The Issue
Rykas Cafe has existed since 1920. In all that time, there have been motorcycles and cars that attend regularly. The excuse of “loud vehicles” is a weak attempt to use local government powers to enforce unjust laws on innocent citizens.
In the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s, to today. There have always been loud and noisy vehicles. The input of residents who have moved into the area AFTER gaining knowledge of Rykas Cafe, has as much strength behind it as residents who move next to a pub, or a race track, and complain, forcing sites to close and affecting multitudes of people (thousands upon thousands per week/month in Rykas case). Putting out a privileged attitude that “everyone must do what we say”
Most bikers at Rykas are considerate, they leave and turn right and go on the A road, while there are a certain number of individuals who decide to take the mick, often from out of town. A motorcycle is a loud machine by default, with an exposed engine and shorter exhausts compared to a car. It doesn’t take much critical thinking to appreciate that they are loud. It also doesn’t take much thinking to realise “I’m going to move near a Biker Cafe… there will probably be noise”
Yes, it is appreciated and understood that local residents of Rykas and Box Hill claim that their lives are becoming a misery, but if their unjust biased attitude takes precedent over the reality that Ryka’s existed before, it will end in a landslide collapse for Dorking’s economy, and Ryka’s will inevitably have their licensing removed, forcing a great many people to lose their livelihoods, careers and a great British entity that has worldwide acclaim and reputation.
This petition has been put together by realists, hikers, bikers, drivers and cyclists. With a consideration for the locals AND for Rykas Cafe and it’s patrons.
it’s simple. If you move near a venue with historically loud events, you will be exposed to the loud events. And it is simply, morally wrong that a tradition for many thousands is overruled from the many to the few. This removes the sanctity and responsibility of democratic powers in the area. Enforcing an increase in steps to prevent the freedom and rights of citizens.
Ask yourself, do you really want to plunge Dorkings economy down the drain? Do you really want to be responsible for hundreds of people losing jobs, careers and potentially their livelihoods?
Imprisoning yourself with Orwellian technological tools?
Bikers are some of the most considerate, understanding and freethinking individuals on the planet. Likely to help you even if you attempted to dismantle them.
Once there is no one else around to criticise, ridicule and outright discredit. It will only turn around on you, and there will be no one to turn to.
If you’re happy to shoot yourself in the foot, sign the original petition. If you seek to keep the freedom of choice and freedom point blank, sign this one.
