On September 10 2019, Public Health England released a landmark report into dependence on and withdrawal from prescribed drugs, showing that one in four adults in England has been prescribed a benzodiazepine, z-drug, gabapentinoid, opioid or antidepressant in the past twelve months, with up to a third of these receiving a prescription for at least three years.

Give the focus that the PHE review has given to dependence and withdrawal, I decided that today was the day to share our petition with Matt Hancock, the UK Secretary of State for Health and Social Care.

The letter can be read here:

The letter is also published on Twitter so if you are on Twitter, please share it, I'd like those who can take action to see the notifications as many times as possible. The relevant tweet is: https://twitter.com/jf_moore/status/1171717033857302528?s=21

I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to sign the petition or to support it and share it. The petition will remain open and if and when I get an official response, I will share it with you.

Thank you for your support.
