My name is Jake Buffington, and as a student at The Village School Of Naples, my mind is filled with concern over the current state of our school. Recent events have shaken the foundation of our school a place that many call a second home. Our head of school has resigned, leaving leadership in disarray. The board, which once stood strong and unified, is now fragmented and unsure of its direction. Additionally, with the church beginning to take control, uncertainty looms over the future of our school.

These developments have profound impacts on the students, staff, and families who rely on The Village School not just for education, but for stability, support, and community. When school leadership is in turmoil, it sends ripples through every aspect of student life. Parents are worried about the quality and continuity of education, teachers are uncertain about their job security and professional environment, and students are anxious about their future.

Research consistently shows that stability in school leadership is crucial for creating an environment where students thrive academically and socially. According to the National Association of Secondary School Principals, effective school leadership positively impacts student achievement. By maintaining stability at the leadership level, The Village School can ensure that it prioritizes the welfare of students and staff, ensuring a strong academic future.

We are calling on the school board and relevant authorities to take immediate action to ensure a smooth and transparent transition process. It is essential that a new head of school is appointed through a thorough and inclusive process that considers the input of all stakeholders, including parents, students, teachers, and community members. Furthermore, we urge the board to focus on rebuilding its unity and strength, so it can lead with confidence and clarity.

Additionally, with the church's increased involvement, it is imperative to establish clear boundaries that prevent any negative impact on the educational mission and environment of our school. We need assurances that the school's academic vision remains untarnished and that decision making is always in the best interest of the students educational and emotional well being.
