Provide Access to Clean Water in Flint, Michigan and Globally
The Issue
I am deeply moved by the plight of many people who do not have access to clean water. This is a reality not only in my home country but also around the world. In Flint, Michigan, for example, residents have been grappling with a water crisis since 2014 due to lead-contaminated pipes (source: CNN). It's heartbreaking that in our modern society, access to clean water remains an issue.
Globally, about 2.2 billion people lack safely managed drinking water services according to the World Health Organization (WHO). This is nearly one-third of the global population. The impact on health and livelihoods is devastating.
This petition seeks immediate action from local and international authorities as well as non-governmental organizations involved in water management and human rights advocacy. We urge them to prioritize interventions that will provide access to clean drinking water in Flint and other affected areas worldwide.
The right to safe and clean drinking water should be universal - it's a basic human right recognized by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). Let's stand together for this cause because everyone deserves clean drinking water regardless of where they live.
Please sign this petition if you believe that no one should be denied their fundamental right to clean drinking water. Together we can make a difference!
