Thank you all for lending your support for this important cause.
I understand the position of the people in Bateman's Bay, I really do. I visited the grey-headed flying fox colony yesterday. Although there was no noticeable smell in the water gardens at all, no visible damage to flora, and obvious birdlife in abundance, I am informed that there is usually an unpleasant odour.
I don't mean to discount that inconvenience, or make light of people's impassioned opinions.
I will not, however, look at this issue through a keyhole. The ongoing survival of animal species is a concern far larger than the Bateman's Bay water gardens. It concerns everyone. It is a global issue being threshed out on a small local stage.
Thank you for sharing it openly, which is where this issue belongs. Out in the open. Not locked within a few closed meetings and local forums.
Please continue to share with your friends and sympathetic organisations.
All my thanks,
Lucy
