Thank you so much for joining our movement to create equitable, Sharia-compliant student finance options. With your support, we’ve reached over 1,100 signatures, highlighting the need for change that enables everyone to access higher education without compromising their beliefs or values.

Current Progress

Since launching our petition, we have formally reached out to the UK Department for Education and the Secretary of State for Education, emphasizing the importance of alternative student finance. We highlighted that over 50,000 students in the UK—many of whom are Muslim—face barriers to higher education due to the interest-based student loan system, which is incompatible with their faith. Our letter stresses the need to expedite Sharia-compliant finance options and calls for immediate action rather than waiting until the proposed 2026 rollout.

Our Proposal

In our proposal, we’ve suggested a non-profit, cooperative model for higher education financing, with reduced tuition fees and flexible, interest-free payment options that can be implemented immediately. This approach is essential to ensure that every student can pursue higher education without financial or ethical hardship.
