We are requesting your continued support for bicycle infrastructure on Route 1. Within the town budget discussions, First Selectman, Danielle Chesebrough, had submitted a request for a $50K budget towards a bike lane project on Route 1 between Big Y and Cove Road in Stonington. The request got slashed down to $20K and has since been cut from the budget in a 4 to 3 nearly split vote. One of the Board Members on the fence, but who voted against the allocation, is the father of a bicyclist that rides thousands of miles per year via commuting by bike. We think he could potentially be swayed towards a yes.
There is a town meeting on 3/26 where the Board of Finance will make final decisions on budget line items. If we rally enough support with letters prior to, and use our voices to make a strong case that can change just one person's mind, we could see the $20K towards a bike lane project get passed.
We need you help! Please use this support letter template, tailor where highlighted and send to BOF@Stonington-Ct.gov before March 26th:

If we band together, it might be just the right amount of impact to make a great big change for our streets. One that advocates for and acts as the stepping stone for more opportunities and projects that expand on this one.
Thank you in advance for your support. Our voices matter so much right now. We are better together!
