We have been working feverishly to draft a Complete Streets Policy for the town of Stonington through the POCD's subcommittee: Stonington Streets. This policy would act to ensure both equity and safety for all road users regardless of mode of transportation. Complete Streets policies have been adopted at a national level by town's that wish to ensure all levels of roadways projects and repairs consider and plan for all users.
Aside from our continued efforts, we invite you to join us as we host an exclusive showing of Greg Lemond's film, The Last Rider, this Wednesday + Thursday evenings (8/23 & 8/24) at 7:30P at The United Theatre in Westerly, RI. This film depicts the heroic true story of American cyclist Greg LeMond, considered to be one of the greatest cyclists of all time, who defied the odds for one of the most triumphant comeback stories in sporting history. Advanced ticket purchases are highly encouraged as our June film event sold out prior to doors opening: https://unitedtheatre.org/shows/the-last-rider/
We have been told by several eagerly awaiting this film's debut in Westerly that the film is not being shown anywhere within driving distance of us. Therefore, we expect a large turnout both nights. Again, tickets at the doors cannot be guaranteed and you may be turned away if the event does sell out. Purchase your tickets ahead and join us as the cycling community comes together for a fun night out. Ticket proceeds are split between our benefactors: Bike Stonington and The United Theatre, both 501C3 non-profits.
We hope to see you there and thank you for your continued support within our biking initiatives!
