Sometimes, despite our best efforts, change doesn’t happen the way we hope. With the upcoming push to raise the social media age to 16 in Australia, it’s clear that, as much as it sucks, this legislation is likely going to pass. It's inevitable, and fighting against it right now seems fruitless. We’re not lobbyists with deep pockets. We’re not celebrity radio hosts with public influence. We’re not media moguls with agendas to protect.
But This Does Not Mean Failure.
Though it may feel like a setback, I believe in the resilience of truth. The new age restriction, once implemented, will face scrutiny and backlash. I am confident that it will unravel under the weight of its own impracticality and the realities of the world we live in. And when it fails, those who ignored our voices will be forced to reckon with the consequences.
We have campaigned fiercely. We’ve shared our message, raised awareness, and amplified the voices of those impacted. Now, it’s time to rest and trust that nature will take its course. Corruption and ill-conceived policies cannot stand the test of time. When the public sees this age ban unravel, the same leaders who pushed it through will be the ones answering for the harm it caused.
For now, I encourage all of you to take care of yourselves, stay informed, and be ready to stand strong when the time comes again to fight for our principles.
Thank you for standing by this movement.
