Congress Raises Concerns About the Proposed Yosemite Land Transfer

On September 15, 2026, 157 members of the U.S. House and Senate sent a letter to Interior Secretary Doug Burgum urging the Department to abandon the proposed Yosemite land transfer involving Kingsbarn Realty Capital and its 83-acre Hazel Green Ranch property.

You can read the September 15 congressional announcement and the full letter to Interior Secretary Doug Burgum here.

The lawmakers questioned whether the proposed transaction would provide a meaningful public benefit and raised concerns about the Department's proposed use of Land and Water Conservation Fund authority.

Importantly, the lawmakers stated that, in response to congressional inquiries, the Department had indicated that it had not identified any replacement land for the Yosemite property involved in the proposed exchange.

This is a significant development. Members of Congress have formally challenged the proposal and asked the Department of the Interior to abandon it.

My petition seeks appropriate congressional review, transparency, and public participation before any Yosemite National Park property is transferred or exchanged.

Please help keep this issue in the public eye. If you have signed the petition, thank you. I encourage you to share it with your friends, family, neighbors, and social networks. Every additional signature helps demonstrate that Americans care about transparency, congressional oversight, and the protection of our National Parks.
