Who is impacted?

Women across the country are being put at risk due to the absence of clear, consistent policies protecting women-only spaces. This is more than a matter of privacy—it's about safety, dignity, and trauma-informed care. Many women have experienced sexual abuse or trauma, and being forced to share intimate spaces with men—regardless of how they identify—can feel violating, triggering, and unsafe. Every woman deserves to feel protected and respected in facilities designated for female use. Unfortunately, without proper safeguards, that right is being quietly stripped away. We are calling for legislation that ensures the privacy and safety of women in all 50 states by providing clear definitions and protections for female-only spaces 

What is at stake?

What’s at stake is the safety, comfort, and mental well-being of women across the country. Many of us have survived sexual abuse or traumatic experiences, and the violation of privacy in intimate settings—such as locker rooms, saunas, and massage areas—can feel re-traumatizing. These are places where women are most vulnerable, and being forced to share them with individuals who are biologically male, regardless of gender identity, can cause fear, anxiety, and distress. It’s not about hate—it’s about healing. About the right to feel safe while changing, showering, or simply existing without fear. That right is being quietly taken away, and we must speak up before it’s completely gone.

Why This Matters:

This petition is not rooted in exclusion or division—it is a plea for fairness and compassion for all. Women should not have to choose between their safety and public participation. From teenage girls in school locker rooms to elderly women in health clubs and spas, countless individuals rely on the protection of women-only spaces to navigate the world with a sense of safety and peace. These spaces exist for a reason—and they matter. It is time we reaffirm their importance in law and practice.

Now is the time to act because incidents like these are becoming more frequent, and the need for clear policies is more urgent than ever. Over the past few years, as some spaces have allowed men into women's locker rooms under the guise of being transgender without verification, there have been numerous incidents of harassment and even assault. Women are being put in vulnerable situations right now, and immediate action is necessary to prevent further harm. By addressing this issue today, we can ensure that all women have the safe spaces they deserve and that we are not turning a blind eye to a growing problem.

We urge lawmakers in every state to take immediate steps toward creating and enforcing legislation that protects the right to women-only spaces. We are calling for the establishment of clear policies that prioritize safety and privacy, and for the creation of additional gender-neutral accommodations to ensure inclusion without sacrificing women’s rights.
