The Issue

Protect Women’s and Girls’ Safety — Reinstate and Preserve Female-Only Toilets with Added Unisex Alternatives

We call on local councils, government leaders, and venue operators across the UK to protect biological female-only toilets and ensure that safeguarding is prioritised in all public and community spaces.

Petition Text:

Women and girls deserve safe, private, and supportive toilet spaces — without fear, discomfort, or risk.

Women’s toilets are more than just practical facilities. They are spaces of dignity, refuge, and safety, especially for:

Young girls
Women experiencing period issues or pregnancy
Survivors of trauma or harassment
Vulnerable individuals escaping distressing or unsafe situations

Under current UK policy interpretations, trans women are allowed access to women’s toilets without any medical transition, certification, or verification — simply by self-identifying. While this is often done with no ill intent, it also opens a dangerous loophole for predatory men who may exploit the system and enter women’s spaces without consequence or accountability.

This policy erodes the boundaries that many women and girls rely on to feel safe. It also silences women who raise concerns — branding them as discriminatory instead of recognising their right to safety and privacy.

We are calling for the following changes:

Legally protect biological female-only toilets and changing spaces, especially in public, school, health, and community venues.
Introduce or maintain unisex or gender-neutral toilets as an additional option for those who want or need them — without removing single-sex provision.
Implement a certification or safeguard-based policy for access to opposite-sex private spaces, particularly where vulnerable women or children are present.
Listen to women — not just advocacy groups, but everyday mothers, daughters, and survivors — in shaping fair, safe, and inclusive policies.

This is not about hate. This is about honouring reality, boundaries, and safeguarding.

Girls should not need a chaperone to use the toilet.

Women should not feel fear in the one place designed for their privacy and protection.

We urge leaders at all levels to protect both dignity and safety — and to restore balance where it has been lost.

Sign this petition to say: Women’s voices matter. Safeguarding matters. And our daughters deserve better.
