Jan 23, 2025

Good News Everyone! HB2775, the Revitalize Hemp Act, will be heard in the House Agriculture Subcommittee next Wednesday (1/29) at 4PM in Room 210. This is on Hemp Lobby Day, so if you plan on attending we need you either at this meeting or to visit any of these committee members the day of.

Moreover, please Email info@csbassociation.com to learn how you can support this important effort which will effectively bring Virginia's Hemp Laws back in harmony with the Federal laws.

This means Virginia Hemp Companies will be given the opportunity (once more) to compete in a national hemp marketplace, as well as, give back Virginia citizens their consumer rights to enjoy hemp products that can be purchased legally out-of-state, but not within the State of Virginia.

If you cannot make it on Hemp Lobby Day next Wednesday, you can still have an impact by either leaving a public comment through the Ag Sucommittee's comment portal, or to Email/Call each delegate in the subcommittee.

Things to Keep in Mind When Leaving Your Comment

Three key points to consider when submitting a public comment in support of HB2775. Most importantly, please emphasize that you trust Virginia Hemp Businesses to procure high quality, affordable, and SAFE hemp products which are currently federally legal in other States. Not only does this limit your consumer rights, but it prevents Virginia Businesses to compete on a level National playing field.

  • Point 1: We are ONLY changing the definition of hemp to align with the federal government definition.
  • Our Goal: This will enhance Virginia's Hemp Businesses to compete nationally. this means Virginia citizens/consumers will have increased access to products with which they are forced to buy out of state.
  • Point 2: The synthetic cannabinoids that are illegal now, remain illegal. The definition change does not change this point.
  • Our Goal: Access to 'controversial' cannabinoids, like THC-O, HHC and Delta-8, will still remain illegal. But Virginia Compliant companies will not be hamstrung by the arbitrary 25:1 CBD to THC ratio which give them more lateral to create better quality and more customized products.

  • Point 3: Additionally, child marketing/child packaging laws and regs are also not being changed. Again, all remains the same, just the definition change.
  • Our Goal: In you comment please emphasis how carefully the Virginia hemp companies you deal with go to ensure compliance with the current law and why these companies can be trusted with operating under a more lenient federal hemp definition.
