The Issue

Recently, a colleague of mine suffered a brain attack while working at a reputed manufacturing company under a third-party contract. Instead of rushing him to the hospital, the employer hesitated, making excuses that he had no insurance. Since he was not a direct employee but hired through a third-party agency, the company refused to take immediate responsibility for his medical emergency. He was left unattended until his family arrived. After much struggle, the company finally paid some money to admit him to the hospital, but by then, precious time had been lost. This delay could have been fatal."

Companies often refuse immediate medical assistance, citing a lack of insurance.
Delayed medical attention in critical cases like brain attacks, heart attacks, or accidents can be life-threatening.

What We Demand

"We urge the Ministry of Labour and Employment to make it mandatory for all employers, including third-party contractors, to provide group health insurance to all workers—permanent, contract, and third-party—irrespective of salary limits. Employers must also be held accountable for providing immediate medical aid in workplace emergencies without waiting for insurance approval or family intervention."
