Dear "Save the Forest" supporters,

Church St Co., the Raleigh-based developer under contract to purchase the Harris Rd parcel across from Joyner Park, is submitting their rezoning application today, which includes requests for NMX, RMX, and OS (neighborhood mixed use commercial, residential mixed use and 20 acres of open space). We have told them that we would support a development that was concentrated on the 20 acres of the parcel with flat topography and young pine, while leaving the 30+ acres of "exceptional" forest preserved. This ensures that the critical habitat and delicate ecosystem on this beautiful land is fully protected. They did not comply, so we are continuing our fight for this parcel. They will have to have public hearings with both the planning board and the BOC. We will update you with those dates when they are announced.
