Protect the Rights of Senior Citizens at Parish Court

Protect the Rights of Senior Citizens at Parish Court
The Issue
For many of us, Parish Court is more than just a home; it's a community where senior citizens reside in their twilight years. However, recent developments have shown a troubling disregard for our dignity, safety and well being.
The residents, are being subjected to disturbing mental abuse as their basic freedoms and rights are being systematically stripped away. They are no longer allowed to enjoy planting and congregating outdoors, transportation to venues and supermarkets have been terminated, and a flag no longer flies on the property despite a new flag donated to the community on September 10, 2025. The simple joys that are crucial for their mental stimulation and emotional health have been stripped from their lives over the course of the last 2 1/2 years. This prohibition not only isolates them but also chips away at their independence and humanity.
More alarmingly, the facility has been plagued by a severe rodent and insect infestation. This has been negligently overlooked, adding the risk of disease transmission and further compromising the health and safety of the residents. Such conditions are unbearable, not just in terms of physical risk but also in their impact on mental health. Elderly Housing Management has been non-compliant with the Department of Health and violates the requirements.
On October 17, 2025 the property manager informed the residents that Parish Court is pursuing a contract with Section 8.
Last winter the property manager and management hired a maintenance worker who had three prior arrests, and within two months of hire robbed from several residents while they were not home. Management did not run a background check on the worker, and failed to change the locks on the apartments putting the residents at risk as the worker had possession of the master key to the units
Senior citizens deserve a safe, engaging, and dignified environment where they can thrive and relish life. It's crucial that The Church Housing of Fairfield (the owners of Parish Court) take immediate action to rectify these alarming issues. We propose the following actionable steps:
- Immediate removal of the present property manager and Elderly Housing Management.
- Restoration of outdoor rights for senior residents to plant and engage in group activities.
- Regular health and safety inspections by independent home inspectors to ensure living conditions remain exemplary.
By signing this petition, you are calling upon The Church Housing of Fairfield (the owners of Parish Court), surrounding neighbors to Parish Court and local authorities to take swift action in safeguarding the rights and welfare of our senior citizens. Let our elders enjoy their golden years in dignity and peace. Please add your voice and help make a difference today.
