From artistic expression, to mockery and provocation

Our community fully supports artists having the freedom to express themselves through their art, and we support them displaying their art in galleries or museums where people can choose to go see them if they wish. This is not about censorship of artists.
This is also not a religious crusade. This is about basic human decency, common courtesy, respect for others, and having a level of moral standards and behaviour that are necessary for peace and harmony in any democratic society.
Regardless of anyone's occupation, hobby, or religion, Freedom of Expression comes with the great responsibility of respecting the rights and freedoms of others. In a civilized democratic society like Cayman where "Caymankindness" is promised in international marketing campaigns, the line is drawn when anyone's public expressions are slanderous, offensive, illegal, and violates the privacy and rights of private citizens. It is for this same reason that Cayman radio talk shows have set standards for the public expressions of callers – they do not allow callers to use profanity in their public expressions, nor to state the names of others.
Freedom of Expression also comes with the acceptance that others have the right to either publicly support or reject your expressions. So publishing people's names and their private details on large open-air billboards and signs along a main public road just because they've exercised THEIR right to resist or reject certain public expressions, is not only an invasion of their privacy but is unacceptable hypocricy in any democratic society. Only dictators and bullies would think otherwise.
It should therefore be of no surprise when the police are forced to intervene in the interest of Public Morality, as well as Public Safety after many years of escalating tensions.
We will not post a photo of the billboard that is still erected on this property bearing the details of private citizens, but this photo serves as an example of how the objectives of this particular American artist who has chosen to live among the people of Cayman Brac, have evolved from artistic expression, to mockery and provocation.
