We all miss a lot of things about the Mütter. The online content, the welcoming atmosphere, the engaging events, and of course, their fabulous former curator, Anna Dhody. In March, Dhody left the Mütter after nearly 20 years without much acknowledgement from the administration (shocking). She's even been quietly removed from the Museum's Wikipedia page. This was after months of sidelining, division and disagreements with the new leadership at the Mütter. Now, she and other former staff have come together to form the Dhody Research Institute, which aims to examine medical history to address current and future health challenges and to foster curiosity through education and research.
Anna represents what was best loved about the Museum, and her new non-profit is working to bring us all the things the Museum leadership wants to erase, engaging in accessible science communication and conducting research with historical medical collections to improve 21st –century human health.
Let's help them out!! As a new non-profit, Dhody Research Institute needs all the funding it can get. Donate here to support Anna's dedication to scientific and museological research, consultation, and education. Plus, what better way to show the administration how much money they're losing by continuing on their disastrous and ill-conceived campaign to sanitize the Mütter.
