We had the pleasure of seeing Cristin O'Keefe Aptowicz, author of the best-selling book "Dr. Mütter's Marvels" [available here] at a book-signing at the local Barnes and Noble in Center City Philadelphia. Cristin began research on this topic in 1999 as an undergraduate and was aided by the inestimable Gretchen Worden.
Cristin spoke passionately about the importance of public access to the Mütter, how Dr. Mütter himself was regularly ostracized by the medical establishment of his time, and that the Mütter Museum "begs you to be curious". She also voiced concern about the current leadership, and opined that if she hadn't been given the access Gretchen had granted over 20 years ago, her book would never have been written.
We are so grateful to have the support of the genuine expert on Dr. Mütter!
