What do we mean by "Keep the Mütter Weird"? Some people think we're saying nothing about the museum should change, because weird people like it and that's what's most important. This is an unfortunate misconception. Some people think we don’t want the museum to change, and that’s simply not true. We, like the Mütter staff, think that repatriation and consulting with stakeholder communities is paramount.
Keep the Mütter Weird (designed by Shawn Porter of Sacred Debris) is about the people who find and have found community via the Mütter. We mean keep the Mütter weird for those of us who see "weird" as a compliment, as a badge of honor.
The Mütter used to have events, you see. Last June, for instance, there was cocktails in the garden, an outdoor movie screening, an event celebrating women in STEM and a discussion event about abortion rights. They even got rid of the children's scavenger hunt. That's the weirdness we want to keep at the Mütter.
This June, there are no events.
