Around 40 dogs have been found dead at a dump site in Edremit, Balıkesir.

Their bodies were discovered together in a single location. Many had municipal ear tags, dogs who had already been seen, handled, and recorded.

Each one of these dogs mattered & it was the responsibility of the municipality to keep them safe.

Since the slaughter law, over 149,000 dogs have died in Turkish shelters.

This is not a one-off event. It is part of something much larger. Dogs are dying every day across the country in terrible circumstances.

This petition calls for accountability within the systems responsible for these dogs. It calls for shelters to be places of safety not suffering. Shelters must have the capacity, the resources and the will to care for stray dogs or they must be closed immediately.
