Petition updateProtect Stray Dogs in Turkey Through Humane ReformOutrage After Disturbing Dog Removal Footage in Elmalı, Antalya

Recent footage from Elmalı, Antalya showing a dog being forcibly taken from a private property has caused widespread public outrage and renewed serious concerns about how dogs are being rounded up and where they are being taken.

While the identity of the individual in the video has not yet been officially confirmed, the incident has raised urgent questions about municipal dog collection practices and, critically, the conditions inside shelters where these animals are sent.

This petition exists because we have seen this pattern repeatedly:

Dogs are removed without transparency
Shelters operate without adequate oversight
Animals suffer neglect, fear, illness, or death behind closed doors
Until shelters are properly inspected, adequately staffed, and proven capable of providing humane care, they must not continue to accept dogs.

Closing shelters temporarily is not abandonment of a programme
👉 it is a necessary step to prevent further suffering.

This latest incident reinforces our demand:
✔️ Immediate suspension of dog intake
✔️ Independent inspections of all shelters
✔️ Full transparency and accountability from municipalities
✔️ Humane, community-based alternatives until standards are met

We urge authorities to act responsibly and the public to continue sharing this petition. Every signature increases pressure for meaningful change.

We will continue to update supporters as more information becomes available.

Thank you for standing up for animals who cannot speak for themselves.
