Thank you again for staying engaged on the proposed annexation of the Old Board Ranch parcel. We are approaching an important early moment in this process – and what happens now will shape everything that follows.
Why this Matters
This is the moment to ensure the process is – clear, transparent, and grounded in adopted policy. Things you can do, if you haven’t already done so:
I. Attend City Council meeting in person – Monday, April 13, 2026 @ 5:30pm // Hailey City Hall, 115 S Main St, Hailey, ID 83333 – 2nd Floor
II. Submit a Comment Letter – by Thursday, April 9, 2026 // Email letter to – City Mayor, Council members, and Clerk – martha.burke@haileycityhall.org, kaz.thea@haileycityhall.org, dustin.stone@haileycityhall.org, sage.sauerbrey@haileycityhall.org, juan.martinez@haileycityhall.org, mary.cone@haileycityhall.org
Below are some thoughts for what to include in your letter:
+ STEP 1 – Copy this core message
Dear Mayor and Council,
I am writing regarding the proposed annexation of the Old Board Ranch parcel.
This process should not advance until the City has defined, publicly disclosed, and entered into the record the framework under which this proposal will be evaluated — including the applicable standards, required analyses, and decision criteria.
At present, that framework has not been clearly established, and it is not possible to understand how this proposal will be evaluated or how the public can meaningfully participate.
+ STEP 2 – Consider adding 1 section from below (optional)
Evaluation Framework & Public Process
- What standards and criteria will govern evaluation of this proposal?
- What analyses and studies will be required before consideration advances?
- How is the public expected to provide meaningful input without a clearly defined process?
Comprehensive Plan & Sensitive Lands
- The parcel is designated as Sensitive Lands in the Comprehensive Plan.
- How will annexation and development be evaluated for consistency with that designation?
- What findings would be required to support such a determination?
Annexation Plan (Services, Infrastructure, Fiscal Impacts)
- Where is the annexation plan addressing services, infrastructure, and fiscal impacts?
- How can annexation be considered without that information?
- When will this information be provided to the public?
+ STEP 3 – Close
Thank you for your consideration. I request that this comment be entered into the public record.
III. Share the Petition – with friends, neighbors and others in the community // We’ve collected ~500 signatures at this point and continue to build awareness and support.
Thank you again for your time and engagement!
