Reinefjorden isn’t just water between mountains — it’s part of what makes Lofoten unforgettable.
Its calm surface hides rich marine life, and its beauty draws visitors from around the world, giving life to local fishing, guiding and hospitality work.

On 13 October 2025, Moskenes kommune opened a public hearing for an application by Multigen Gadus AS to establish a new cod farm in Vorfjorden (N 67°57.472′ / E 13°05.855′) with a planned maximum biomass of 8 000 tonnes (MTB).
Comments must be sent to postmottak@moskenes.kommune.no within four weeks.

We recognise that aquaculture is important for Norway, but Vorfjorden / Reinefjorden is not the right place.
The fjord is narrow, has limited water exchange, and stands at the heart of one of Norway’s most iconic landscapes.
Industrial activity here would harm the view, the ecosystem, and the balance between fishing, tourism and nature.

Norway has more than 1 190 fjords—many suitable for testing new aquaculture projects.
We ask Moskenes kommune to reject or relocate this proposal to protect what makes our community unique.

This petition follows a community vote within the Legion of Lofoten, where a strong majority opposed the project and supported acting together.
