That matters because this isn’t just about nostalgia for discs. It’s about consumer choice, preservation, digital ownership and long term access to games people have already paid for.

This petition sits alongside a wider wave of player concern about PlayStation’s move away from physical games, with a specific focus on physical media, PS3 and PS Vita store closures, digital access, licensing, delistings, pricing power and stronger consumer rights.

The message is simple:

If physical games are being phased out, digital purchases need stronger protections in return.

Players need clearer wording about what they’re buying, long term access to purchased games and DLC, proper notice before stores or licence services are withdrawn, fairer digital pricing, and fair remedies if paid content becomes unavailable.

I’ve also started a UK Parliament petition on this issue. It has passed the initial supporter stage and is currently being checked before publication. If it’s approved, that will give UK supporters another official route to raise this issue.

For now, please keep sharing this petition with PlayStation players, collectors, retro gaming communities, consumer rights groups and anyone who cares about game preservation.
