It’s over!!! No Riverfront Jail Complex will be built!!!

In the end, it was our voices and the environmental assessments that proved what a gift this riverfront parcel is. In our environmental assessments conducted with our biologist we found that not only was this land key riparian habitat, it also includes 2 perennial streams that run into the Sacramento River, wetlands with vernal pools, milkweed, elderberry bushes and beetles and is home to many more species, as well.

We are grateful to Sheriff Johnson who solely made the decision to relocate this project due to the environmental concerns and our neighborhood. We applaud you. We also applaud all members of the River Ranch Neighborhood Association that took on this fight. It was a long year but we were triumphant. Thank you. An environmental victory in Shasta County. It is finally over and the parcel is saved.
