Protect our playing field

The Issue

Our local playing fields are under threat of sale and development… local groups trying to coordinate a response to this and prevent it from happening can be found here:

This area has played an integral role in the lives of Totnes residents for years. Local families, children, joggers, and sports enthusiasts have enjoyed this space for recreational games, social groups and easy access to the River Dart. Here, local children learned to ride their bikes, families have gathered for picnics, football games have been played and friendships have been forged. For many, it forms the backdrop of cherished memories and a continuous connection to nature through easy access to the River Dart.

.... Recently signs have been erected, gates and barriers have been installed and access appears to be under threat despite established and demonstrable unrestricted access existing for many many years

The denial of access seems in direct conflict with community needs and desires. Community spaces are vital to our health, cohesion, and well-being. The fields should remain a shared resource to nurture community ties and provide a sanctuary for residents to escape the hustle of daily life. It's a precious part of the Totnes identity, one that deserves protection for future generations.

We need your support to ensure that our local authorities recognize the importance of keeping this space open for everyone. By adding your signature, you will help us preserve the Totnes playing fields for future generations to enjoy, just as so many have before. Please sign this petition to protect our right to enjoy the beautiful, open spaces that are such a vital part of our Totnes heritage and daily life
