We are aware of a counter petition. As you can see, Topeka, LLC has not put in an official response to ours. Neither did they list us as a decision maker so we can tell our side and open dialogue on their petition. Instead opted to list our state officials!

It appears they also, based on thier supporter's comments, widened thier petition to include people outside of Miramar Beach —including out of state— in a bid to overwhelm our petition with numbers. We could have done the same intially but our petition is solely local because it concerns local's health and wellbeing.

Contrary to the music festival's comments, we have not had updates via email. Nor are we against or attempting to shut down the business. What we seek is for Walton County and the music venue to seek our health and wellbeing first. As a group, we believe this to be more important. We do not believe, based on the current dialouge from both that this is important enough to them.

We would like the county to place in the Ordinaces the recomended (by federal research) general levels below 70 decibels in residential areas if emitting from an outside source and the sound is prolonged (an hour or more). Which can be easily achieved with sound barriers and other noise reducing infrastructure that keeps the sound contained within the venue.

We understand that the major push back is cost and current mindsets of both industry and government oversight.

Mindsets can be changed. The government, as a service to the residents, should consider our health as a top priority. Industry standards can be updated to reflect modern health and safety needs. The cost should be seen as a good will investment for the wellbeing of all people.
