Government Consultation on Fireworks end on the 7th October

The Government is currently consulting on changes to the laws governing fireworks — and this is an important opportunity to make our voices heard.
The consultation closes at 11:59pm on 7 October 2026, so we need as many people as possible to respond before the deadline.
If you are concerned about the increasing use of fireworks, particularly the excessive noise they can cause, please take a few minutes to tell the Government what you think. In particular, I believe much tighter restrictions are needed on the noise levels permitted for fireworks, including the louder F3 category.
My personal view has also changed considerably on this issue. I now believe that the unrestricted use of fireworks has got out of control.
I would like to see their use restricted to certain recognised occasions, such as Bonfire Night and New Year, with a licence required for private displays at other times of the year.
I didn't always hold this view, but the frequency and disturbance caused by fireworks has convinced me that stronger measures are now necessary.
We will shortly be sending out a further update following our meetings with the local MP and the Police.
But for now, please take part in the Government consultation before 7 October and make your views known. The more people who respond, the stronger the message will be.
Please also share this with friends, family and neighbours who are affected by fireworks.
