We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who strongly oppose any plans to cancel, delay or bypass the scheduled Brentwood Borough Council elections in 2026.

Local elections are a cornerstone of democracy and essential to ensuring public accountability, especially during times of political or structural change.

We call on Brentwood Borough Council to commit publicly to holding full and fair elections in 2026 as planned, and to reject any proposals that would cancel or postpone them without direct public consent.

We also expect the council to send a letter to the national government requesting they honour local borough elections and allow them to proceed.
