Protect Our Creeks: Support Strong Buffer Protections in Santa Barbara

Protect Our Creeks: Support Strong Buffer Protections in Santa Barbara
The Issue
Santa Barbara's creeks are vital for community safety, ecological health, and climate resilience. Development near creek corridors has put people, water quality, and wildlife at risk from increased flooding, erosion, and pollution. Every other jurisdiction in our region has a creek buffer ordinance in place. It's time for the City of Santa Barbara to catch up.

Creek Buffers:
- Filter pollutants entering our creeks, improve water quality
- Stabilize streambanks, reducing erosion
- Provide essential habitat for fish and wildlife
- Mitigate flooding by absorbing excess rainwater
- Enhance the natural beauty of our community
Creek buffers are a proven, natural solution to protect our creeks and the ecosystems they support.
I support strong creek buffers in the City of Santa Barbara to safeguard our environment and community for generations to come.
