Protect Our Community: Demand BMO Cancel the Mortgage and Authorities Shut Down Pink House at 1572 Queen Street East
A Community Call for Accountability, Public Safety and Law Enforcement
We, the concerned residents, parents, homeowners, and local business owners of Toronto's Beaches community, are raising serious concerns regarding Pink House, located at 1572 Queen Street East, Toronto, which has reportedly been operating as a 24-hour cannabis dispensary near residential homes and childcare facilities.

Our community deserves safe streets, responsible businesses, and equal enforcement of the law.

Ontario has strict rules governing cannabis retail licensing, operating hours, product safety, and the prevention of cannabis sales to minors. Reported 24-hour cannabis sales raise serious questions about compliance with these regulations.

We are calling upon Bank of Montreal (BMO), Toronto City Council, Toronto Police Service, and provincial enforcement authorities to take immediate action.

1. Demand That BMO Cancel or Enforce the Mortgage
Bank of Montreal has been identified to us as the mortgage lender associated with 1572 Queen Street East.

We call upon BMO to urgently verify its financial involvement and investigate whether the property is being used in violation of applicable laws, mortgage obligations, or insurance requirements.

Concerns have been raised about the property's reported cannabis operations, renovations, electrical work, and compliance with building and fire safety requirements.

If the property is operating without appropriate licensing or insurance, these circumstances may create significant legal, financial, and safety risks.

We demand that BMO consider cancelling or accelerating the mortgage, withdrawing its financing, or exercising its available mortgage enforcement remedies if substantial contractual breaches are established.

We also ask BMO to investigate whether the property maintains valid insurance covering its actual commercial use.

A financial institution should not ignore documented unlawful activities or serious property safety violations affecting its mortgage security.

2. Community Boycott of Pink House
We call upon residents and local businesses to consider a peaceful, voluntary boycott of Pink House while the serious questions surrounding its operations remain unresolved.

Consumers deserve transparency about whether a cannabis retailer is properly licensed and whether its products meet Ontario's regulatory requirements.

Illegal cannabis distribution can involve products that have not undergone the testing, labeling, and quality-control processes required in Ontario's regulated retail system.

Our community supports responsible local businesses that follow the law, protect consumers, and contribute positively to the neighbourhood.

3. Demand Permanent Closure of Unlawful Cannabis Operations
We call upon the local Toronto City Councillor, Toronto Police Service, and provincial authorities to immediately investigate the reported 24-hour cannabis operations at Pink House.

Authorized cannabis retailers in Ontario are permitted to operate between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., not around the clock.

We request:

Immediate verification of the business's cannabis retail licensing status.
Investigation of reported cannabis sales outside legally permitted hours.
Inspection of relevant building, fire, and electrical safety conditions.
Investigation of the source and regulatory compliance of cannabis products.
Appropriate enforcement action, including closure where authorized by law.
Measures to prevent continued or repeated unlawful operations at the property.

If persistent illegal cannabis operations are confirmed, we call upon authorities to pursue all available legal measures to permanently end those operations at this address.

4. Investigate the Reported Owner, Sulamif Kogan
We request that Toronto Police and relevant provincial authorities investigate the identity, ownership, management, and operation of Pink House.

Sulamif Kogan has been identified to us as a person reportedly associated with the ownership or operation of the business. We ask authorities to verify that connection and determine whether there is evidence of any involvement in unlawful activities.

Where sufficient evidence exists, we request that authorities consider appropriate charges and that prosecutors pursue the matter in accordance with Canadian law.

This request is not an assertion that Sulamif Kogan has committed a crime. Any determination of responsibility must be based on evidence and due legal process.

5. Protect Children, Families and Our Neighbourhood
We are particularly concerned about the property's proximity to residential homes and childcare facilities.

Our concerns include:

Potential access to cannabis by minors.
Possible late-night noise, loitering, and disruption of residential streets.
Consumer exposure to potentially unregulated cannabis products.
Risks that illegal cannabis sales may contribute to broader unlawful distribution networks.
Possible fire, electrical, and building safety hazards.
The impact of continued regulatory non-compliance on neighbourhood confidence and safety.
We request that each of these concerns be properly investigated rather than ignored.

Our Four Demands
To Bank of Montreal: Review the mortgage and insurance status of 1572 Queen Street East, and cancel, accelerate, or enforce the mortgage if established breaches legally justify such action.

To Our Community: Support a peaceful, voluntary boycott of Pink House and choose licensed, regulated cannabis retailers.

To Toronto Police, City Council and Provincial Authorities: Investigate the premises immediately and pursue permanent closure of unlawful cannabis operations where legally justified.

To Police and Prosecutors: Investigate the role of Sulamif Kogan and any other responsible operators, and pursue prosecution if evidence supports criminal or regulatory charges.

Our Neighbourhood Deserves Better
This petition is about public safety, respect for the law, the protection of children, and accountability for commercial property owners, operators, and financial institutions.

We demand that our concerns be investigated promptly and that appropriate action be taken to stop unlawful activities and protect the neighbourhood.
