Protect Our Community: Oppose the 30-Story Development at 77th Street and Old Banff Coach

The Issue

We, the undersigned residents and concerned citizens of Calgary, strongly oppose the proposed development at the intersection of 77th Street and Old Banff Coach Road, which seeks to increase building heights from 30 meters to 90 meters (approximately 30 stories) for nine buildings. This drastic change would significantly impact our community in the following ways:

  • Increased Traffic Congestion: The development would worsen existing traffic issues, making daily commutes longer and more dangerous for residents.
  • Strain on Resources and Services: The proposed population increase would put undue pressure on our local infrastructure, including water, sewage, and emergency services, all of which are already stretched thin.
  • Loss of Community Character and Environmental Impact: The construction of such large buildings would alter the character of our neighborhood, overshadowing homes, reducing sunlight, and affecting the natural environment we cherish.

We believe that this development is not aligned with the best interests of the community and urge the City of Calgary to reject this proposal. We ask for more thoughtful and balanced development plans that respect the character and well-being of our neighborhood.
