STOP THE NEWDOWN BIOMETHANE PLANT – PROTECT OUR COMMUNITIES!
A massive industrial biomethane plant is proposed at Newdown, The Downs, with consequences reaching far beyond the site & affecting The Downs, Killucan, Rathwire, Raharney, Gaybrook & surrounding communities.

The scale of this proposal is staggering:

• 99,000 tonnes of organic material processed annually
• 10,000+ HGV movements on local roads every year
• 80 GWh of biomethane production annually
• 87,000 tonnes of digestate produced every year
• 30-metre (90ft) industrial stacks on our rural landscape
• Our concerns are serious: increased heavy traffic & road-safety risks, potential odour and noise, air & water quality, residential amenity & the industrialisation of our rural surroundings
• Our homes are NOT an industrial zone. The Downs site is simply NOT right!

We stand together to protect our families, our environment and our rural way of life. We are calling for this planning application to be refused.
